A few weeks ago we (the studio) were taken to Federal Delicatessen for lunch by some work mates (the suits) The moment I saw the place I was “I have to bring Le Boyfriend here” I just completely fell in love with it, probably because of it’s 1950’s diner’s vibe.
I think I’ve declared my love affair with brunch quite a while ago, i don’t know if its the fact that you can eat that much during breakfast hours and get away with it, or maybe because otherwise i wouldn’t be caught dead eating eggs, potatoes or bacon this early.
A few Sundays back, le boyfriend and I woke up early…again…thanks to that god forsaking bell right across our window (i mean really who was the one who decided is was a good idea to have a bell ringing since 8am every 15 minutes!) anyways… we woke up early and I’ve manage to convince him to go out for brunch and we ended going to Everybody’s in Fort Lane.
Le Boyfriend and I are slowly filling up the apartment with furniture, decorations and things of the sort. Yes I know…. we moved here 3 months ago already, but baby steps my little grasshopper…baby steps.
One of my mayor issues with this “minimalistic” look, is that Le Boyfriend’s computer is now on our coffee table and given the way we have arrange things at the moment the only way to go from one end of the apartment to the other is by jumping over him and stepping over the couch (which has become quite annoying lately)
Last Saturday a friend of mine had her birthday and she decided to celebrate it by having a huge brunch at Soljans Winery, located west from Auckland city in the Kumeu Region. From what I could see and asked, the venue can be used for different purposes, they have a restaurant and a function centre that serves perfectly for wedding receptions and such and a huge vineyard and winery planted with Pinot gris, Chardonnay and Pinotage grapes (which they’ve told me are the best of that region)
But let’s be honest, you are not here to read about the characteristic of the venue (or that suddenly a guy on an helicopter decided to “park” right in the middle of the yard) you are here because of the food.
It’s time for another monthly favourites!
To be honest I was about to “retire” this section of the blog because I felt you people…yes YOU… weren’t that exited or wasn’t something that caught your attention. Until last month, where my monthly favourites was almost the most view post of the month. So I’m going to give it another go, if it goes well or if you want them to stay, I will continue with my favorites if not, we can consider this one…the last one. Let’s start!
Looks like Le Boyfriend keeps finding great TV shows to watch. Now that we are finally done with Dexter I guess we were needing a bit of blood. (Just kidding) Hannibal is focus on Will Graham, who is a criminal profiler with such a vivid imagination he can put himself in the mind of the killer to find them and it’s psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter, brilliant forensic psychiatrist, culinarian… and a cannibalistic serial killer. If you have a free night give it a go. (Though it might not be a good idea if you are impressionable)
Since the moment I was born until I came to New Zealand, I’ve always lived in the same house, same neighbourhood, same room. I’ve never needed or wanted to move. This is why it’s still weird to think how in the last year I moved house three times already. To my grief I’ve also realised how much Sh#t (Pardon Le french) I’ve gathered in so little time, we moved almost every 6 months since I’ve arrived, the first time we just called a taxi to help us with our luggage, but now I feel we need to call a moving truck to help us out.
It’s 6.30 am, Im crawling out of bed, I brush my teeth, put my hair up in a ponytail and wash my face. I wake up le boyfriend for him to do the same, trying not to jump to the bed containing my excitement. We are going on an adventure!
Let’s say Le boyfriend is a bit obsessed with Tolkien, he read the whole lord of the rings trilogy, the hobbit, we have the three “extended versions” of the film, and went to see The Hobbit (an unexpected journey) twice, I don’t feel so fondly of all the saga as him, but I get excited nonetheless. So naturally have been living in New Zealand for over a year, we had to go to Hobbiton.
They say April showers bring May Flowers, in my case April was a tornado that shook everything, cleared it up and gave me a clean slate to star over. New job, new projects, new places and new friends. So I guess this time, the whole month was a favourite, but I choose a few things to share with you.

Finally! After waiting a whole year Game of thrones started again, with a whole lot of expectation, new characters, dreaded old ones, unexpected turns of events, surprises and we haven’t even reached reached half of the season yet.
Maybe it was the fact that it was cloudy that everything looked grey during daytime, maybe I’m just right or maybe there was something else, but if I can say something after my trip to Sydney is this: Sydney City was made for the night. I know some of you will try to come after me, talk about the beaches, and the sun and the “always summer” feeling you always get from looking at images of Oz, but Im just talking about the city centre. The lighted up bridge, the opera shinning and the city view, showing all the colours possible from neon lights. This is part 2 from the Sydney Diaries….this is Sydney by night.
