When life gives you lemons…

_DSC0627Last weekend I woke up with this big craving for lemon cake ( or bunt cake, not sure of the terminology yet) So I check my pantry made a list of what I was missing and off I went to the supermarket to buy what I was missing.

After getting all my ingredients and being scared to death by a pigeon who was hiding in one the aisle of the store I went home and started cooking. I used this recipe but since it’s in Spanish I will rewrite it for all English speakers.


– 200g Soften Butter
– 200g Caster Sugar
– 300g Plain Flour
– 2 tsp Baking Powder
– Zest and Juice of 1 Lemon
– 4 Free Range Eggs
For the Glaze (optional)
– Juice of 1/2 Lemon
– 150g confectioners sugar
– 2 or 3 tsp of Milk

1. Pre-heat the oven to 180C. Grease and line the cake tin of your preference.
2. Mix the softened butter with the sugar in a bowl. Once well combined add the lemon zest.
3. Add the eggs, whisking thoroughly and add the lemon juice.
4. On another bowl stiff the flour and the baking powder and add the “dry’ mixture into the egg one. Combine all and pour the final mix into a mould.(mold, cake tin, what ever you may call it)
5. Bake in the pre-heated oven for 45 minutes (a good old school way to check if it’s done is by poking a cocktail stick right into the cake, if it comes out clean the cake is cooked; if slightly sticky it needs a little longer Allow the cake to cool on a rack.

So thats it! I allowed it to cool down, made myself some tea and enjoyed my lemon cake.
I heard and if you change the lemons with oranges this recipe is the same to bake an orange cake.


And amazingly enough this time I didn’t screw up the recipe of ask Le boyfriend for help. Yay! Success!!

El fin de semana pasado me desperté con un gran antojo de budín de limón. Así que me fije que tenia en la cocina, hice una lista de lo que me faltaba y me fui al supermercado a comprar el resto.

Después de conseguir todos mis ingredientes y ser asustada por una paloma que decidió esconderse en uno de los pasillos del supermercado me fui a casa y empecé a cocinar. Para este budín utilize la receta de esta página.

Así que eso es todo! Espere a que se enfríe, me hice un poco de té y disfruté de mi budín de limón. Lei que si se cambian los limones con naranjas se puede usar la misma receta para hacer un budín de naranja.

Y aunque parezca increíble esta vez no me equivoque en la receta ni tuve que pedirle ayuda a Le novio. Hurra! Éxito!!
